Hello. I'd love to upgrade to the latest OS. I'd happily pay a fair amount if anyone could sell me a chip with the latest software on it. Let me know. Cheers

- MMT8 Button solution
Hi - just found this forum - great. Have had button problem with MMT8, MIDIVERB etc. Simple 1 minute solution : Open casing, remove rubber membranes over contacts, clean contacts with an automotive rubbing compund - such as MeGuiars Plastx, Autoglym Paint Restorer - reassemble. My Alesis gear now works like new. No need to source replacement membranes.

- MMT8 Memory expansion
Has anyone as yet attempted my 8x or 16x memory expansion? I'd like to know if anyone has done it and if they had any problems, or if there is any errors in my guides that they know of, just for some feedback on it. Cheers,

well like an idiot, when i took apart my mmt8 for a routine cleaning ( my first) i didnt write down what way my 3 connectors were facing.. i have the right idea as to which cable goes where, but flipping the sockets upside down and vice versa have caused all of the buttons to have mixed signals, ie track 6 botton triggers the loop led on and off. is there a schematic or diagram anywhere? or better yet can somebody open up there working mmt 8 and snap a pic so i can see?

Is there anyway to add a bit of Swing when Quantising?

There's no official swing function, but you can offset the timing on a track when in song mode to kind of make a shuffle or swing type effect. While in SONG mode, hold down the QUANTIZE button. Select the track you want to affect. It will ask you for an offset value for that track. This value delays or advances that track by that value you put in (I forget which way). Putting in a high enough value may give a swing effect.

Thanks for that it should work fine, specially if I split the drums out onto 2 or 3 tracks. I did't realise it cud be done but I was kinda hunting around in pattern mode. The mmt really is a surprisingly cool piece of kit !

but is there a way to do it without having a dedicated button pusher for turning the tracks on and off? I want the mmt-8 to start playing with the chorus which starts on step 36. How do I arrange the parts on the mmt-8 to start with 35 steps of silence? Or, is there a way to dump the midi info from the drum machine into the mmt-8 where I can use a sequencer track for all of the drums and add synths on top of that? I don't want to reprogram my drums. thanks so much for responding.

I think you could create a blank pattern 35 steps long, then create another pattern to play whatever needs to be played by the MMT8 for your chorus.
Then go into song mode and create a song that plays you blank pattern and then plays your chorus pattern.
When you then payback your song, the MMT8 will be playing nothing (a blank pattern) for the first 35 steps and then it will play your chorus patterns for you. All automatically no button pusher required.

- sequencing parts
Hello. I have an SR-16 drum machine with a lot of songs programmed into it. I am trying to slave the mmt-8 to be able to utilize the sequencer functions where I can add synth parts to my existing sr-16 songs. The goal is to be able to program the mmt-8 to play right along with the sr-16 when I need the synth parts to come in. The problem is, the mmt-8 seems to want data throughout the duration of the song. How do you tell the mmt-8 when to play the recorded parts to match my songs in the sr-16? PLEASE HELP. MY BAND DEPENDS ON IT!

If I get your meaning correctly, why not create songs on the MMT-8 that match the ones on the SR-16 (in terms of length and pattern structure), except with the MMT-8 patterns muted whenever it's not required? Then it doesn't matter which is set to master and which is set to slave, hitting play on the master unit will play both and as long as you have the corresponding songs set up on each, it should work perfectly. I do this with two MMT-8s and a drum machine all the time.

I inquired to the seller if this was painted black or not and they played dumbed.
What is your opinion?
I've compared the pictures to my black mmt-8 and there are some definite differences.
I love theses machines and don't want anyone not to get what they think they are getting.

It looks like a spray job - check the picture from the rear, at the back edge of the hinged lid - they haven't finished the job. You could always taunt them - ask them what OS it has - if they say anything but 1.11 then its a fake. It could still be a fake if they dropped 1.11 ROM in it, but they might be dumb enough not to do that. If they DID say it was a 1.11 (which the grey ones never had), then you could make a complaint to ebay for false advertising hehe!
